Software Technical Specifications

Needles Case Management Software specifications are provided here to help you to determine the minimum specifications needed to run the Needles Case Management program on your existing hardware. This does not take into account other applications that you may wish to run on your hardware at the same time.

The recommended specifications are provided as a guide for those purchasing new hardware and shows the hardware configurations on which Needles (as well as most software) will perform best. When purchasing new hardware it is suggested that you meet or exceed the recommended requirements.

Additional Requirements:

  • Protocols: TCP/IP or IPX (SPX).
  • Network Card: Intel, 3Com - or other name brand network
    card (10/100 or 100BaseT or faster).
  • Workstation Disk Space: Needles Program Files: Approx. 80 Megs per installation. Sybase Client Files: Approx. 150 Megs per installation.
  • Server Disk Space: Needles Database: Approx. 10 Megs (plus an additional 4 Megs for each 100 cases).
    Sybase Server Files: Approx. 200 Megs. Additional space required for all integrated or separate case related documents, forms, etc.
  • Server Hard Drive Speed: Minimum: 7200 RPM IDE
    Recommended: Fast IDE or SCSI Disk system
  • Network Speed: Minimum: 10BaseT (10 mbps).
    Recommended: 100BaseT (100 mbps) or faster.
  • Display: Minimum resolution of 800 x 600 (small fonts) 256 colors
    Recommended resolution of 1024 x 768 (small fonts) 32-bit colors
  • Word Processor: Current Windows version of Word or WordPerfect.

Additional Hardware and Software Recommendations:

  • Network backup software to removable media for nightly network backups.
  • UPS Power Supply (Battery Backup) for server and other critical hardware devices.
  • DVD RW and/or CD-RW drive.
  • Network Firewall and Anti-Virus solutions.
